Review Guidelines
I review games for how fun they are, and how well they execute on their core mechanics and story. I try to mention the pros and cons so that even if I give it a score you don't agree with, you can still decide if the game is for you. In general, I find most game stories to be just okay. I don't typically like or dislike a game based on it's story, I place way more importance on the gameplay and whether I'm actually having fun or not. I most likely won't even review a game below a 6, I have limited time and tend to just quit games that I'm not enjoying.
Some of My Favorite Games
These are the games that best capture the kind of experiences I love, to give you an idea of what I like. There are hundreds of other games I love, but not enough time to list them all!
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Love the unique style of Termina and all the masks to collect. Non-linear gameplay and plenty of side quests to keep you busy.
Baldur's Gate 3
Amazing in every way. The story is great, the gameplay is deep, and the world is immersive. Might be my favorite game of all time—I have around 700 hours in it.
Final Fantasy 7
The first JRPG I put real time into. I loved the story and the gameplay, and there are lots of optional upgrades and side content. The remake is great too (even if I’m not sold on the KH-style multiverse twist).
Elden Ring
The open world added the missing ingredient to the Soulsborne formula for me. I’m not huge on punishing games, but being able to explore, power up, and tackle bosses on my terms finally hooked me.
Expedition 33
Great music, a story that kept me invested, and tons of side content to power up without feeling grindy. The more action-focused twist on turn-based combat kept everything fresh.
World of Warcraft
My first MMO was EverQuest, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy WoW more. EverQuest had great ideas, but WoW made the genre more accessible and modern.
Super Mario World
Still my favorite 2D platformer. A world map full of secrets and a bunch of fun power-ups keep it endlessly replayable.
Mario 64 / DK 64 / Banjo Kazooie
I always have a good time with well-made collectathons—games like Mario 64, Donkey Kong 64, and Banjo-Kazooie never fail to make me smile.
Mass Effect Trilogy
I love sci-fi and BioWare RPGs. I’ve replayed the trilogy multiple times because the characters and choices hold up so well.
Goldeneye
Split-screen GoldenEye was legendary. I miss shooters with mission objectives and quirky gadgets.
Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind
My first WRPG. The world felt alien and mysterious, and the systems were wide open. I prefer it over Oblivion and Skyrim because of the unique loot placement and stranger setting.
The Witcher 3
I’m a huge fan of RPGs and The Witcher 3 is top tier—the side quests, world building, and combat all clicked for me.
